  • You must eat at the very least 1,000 calories a day. Pro-ana and Pro-mia will not be accepted into the group. However, if you are currently recovering or are recovered from an ED you may join.
  • No one may encourage (or advise) someone to try harmful diets or do anything harmful to themselves to loose weight.

I am also looking for MODs for each group. If you want to take on that role please send me an application with: your name, age, and email + why you want to be a mod. You must be a positive person, be very encouraging to the people in your group, and give support to members in your group who are struggling.

I’ve been seeing this on my dash and wanted to point out that this is not how it works.

To me, this post is saying that if you eat 1200 calories, you have to work off 1700 of them in the gym. No. If you are eating 1200 calories and trying to work off 1700 at the gym, then you have an intake of -500 calories per day.

To lose 1lb/3500cals, you have to have a net caloric intake of 500cals less per day (for 7 days) than your average caloric intake.

So, if you normally eat around 2000 calories per day, and you want to lose 1lb per wk, you can either:
burn off 500 calories at the gym for 7 days » -500cal*7days=-3500/wk= 1lb lost
or
eat 500 calories less than that (2000) every day for a week (so, only eat 1500 calories) » same math.

There are other things that effect this equation minimally, but those are the basics.

Things like this are what promote eating disorders. Even if it’s accidental. If people feel like something is impossible to achieve, they will go to drastic, unnecessary measures: anorexia, bulimia (btw: exercising excessively is a form of bulimia), etc.. Please don’t make it harder than it is :)
